Ma. Jabelah! “I like your name, it’s unique”. I often hear it from friends, classmates, teachers & new found friends. Instead of explaining where my name came from, I decided to write a blog about it’s origin and so if someone ask me again I’ll just tell them “Oh check my blog @ jabelah.wordpress.com” LOL…
My dad gave me the name Jabelah which is derived from Havilah literally meaning “Stretch of Sand”.This is in several books of the Bible referring to both land and people.
The story of the Garden of Eden in Genesis 2:11: “And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium (a resin similar to myrrh) and the onyx stone.”
My dad was so playful with the spelling changing H to J & V to B. My name Jabelah is actually pronounced as Ha-belah but when I was in high school, some of my friends & classmates would pronounce it as Ja-belah and I honestly like it.
Since my two handsome elder brothers have two first names Joseph Ernest & Paul Erick, my parents decided to give their unica hija with two first names as well. They gave me MA. which is a shortcut for MARIA in the Philippines but according to my mom it should be MARIE not MARIA(huh???). So I was baptized with a beautiful & unique name MA.JABELAH however, I sometimes wish it’s MARIE JABELAH.
I really want to know the meaning of my name and I checked online unfortunately there is NO name analysis for Jabelah or Ma.Jabelah so I apply for a Free Name and Birth Date Report to Kabalarians.com and after a month here’s what I got…

Tabeh & Ma-JA to some niece & nephews. And I have a college friend Michelle, who calls me Beige and I have no idea where she got it!
I believe, I’m one of the lucky ones who already has something unique that belongs only to me and that is my name. Embrace your name. Make it more than just a word on your birth certificate but rather a beautiful extension of yourself.

Hello Jabelah Jabels.. :-), that’s another name to include on how your friends call you… It fits you because it sounds very funny, bubbly and witty just like what you seem to be…Hey! We have something in common, haven’t you notice? Well, I will make you notice it… lol…I have a unique name too and just like you i always expect new acquaintance to pause for a while to ask me how my parents got my name! huh!!..Same scenario every first day of school since my first grade…Guess what?? right now…I’m just too tired to answer it again. :-)…hahahaha.

That’s why your mom & dad named you DIARLY instead so press people will not have a hard time figuring out how to call you on press conference…. LOL!
